I'm Back!
Howdy! I'm back from vacation. Whew, what a week! Nice and relaxing but we did a lot of stuff.
Horseback riding, kayak and canoeing, and go carts.
Then there was mini golf, waterparks and rides.
We all got plenty of sun too. The weather was good. Nice at first, then it got cooler and cloudier mid week but by the end of the week it was hot and sunny again so we all went home a bit pink. Yes, I know there are no pictures of me. I was the one with the camera. The only picture of me was at a science museum and my baby took a picture of me in a machine with mirrors that just made me look like I only had a head, no body. Not a flattering shot. I so need to get more family pictures!
Food? Oh yes. The food. *sigh* I started well. Then it sorta went downhill. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't like major binging or anything but the longer I was away, the more distant I became from my goals. Yes, it was just a week but it was such a familiar place and there were so many familiar memories of what I USED to do that I gradually slipped back into not-so-good habits. I ate breakfast good but then snacked too much. The snacks we had were healthier than normal but I ate too many. I started each restaurant meal with a nice big salad with 90% veggies but then I ate more. More than planned. Not tons, but more than I should have. And I didn't completely avoid the dessert bar when there was one. Luckily there weren't too many.
I was also stupid and didn't track anything. DUH! Just because you're on vacation, doesn't mean it's a valid reason to not track your food. Somehow I missed that. Thump. Yes, that's me thumping my fist on my head. All in all, I'd say I had a couple really good days, a couple bad days and a couple so-so days. It could have been worse. It has been worse.
I didn't bother weighing myself this morning. I'm in major salt detox mode. I ate really well yesterday and today has been on track with a TON of water. I'll update weight at the end of next week.
Exercise went pretty well. We walked when we otherwise would have taken a shuttle. I didn't scope out the nearest bench as soon as we got somewhere. I took the stairs when we used to take the elevator. My little one even noticed that I would RUN up the stairs. I even went up and down the stairs a couple of extra times when I was alone and had a few extra minutes. So no weights or anything but plenty of walking, playing and swimming.
We got home late in the evening last night and after attending to my 500 emails (no joke), I stayed up way too late last night looking over all the link ups last week. I'm thrilled that so many have stuck with it and most are doing fantastic. I really needed to get remotivated again and your blog posts were awesome! There were several who posted challenge updates on their blogs but didn't link up though. We'd love to hear from all of you so we can keep up! I'll have the new linky tomorrow morning!

Welcome back!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!! Don't get too down on your self!! Sounds like you did better than you did before and its only a week out of the rest of your life!! You did great!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good time. Sorta a bummer you didn't say on your challenge but a new week is here. My week was pretty good, lacking a bit on the challenge exercise but more then enough with other stuff.
ReplyDeleteTake care and enjoy your Sunday. Back to work on Monday. I bet your kids missed you.
Blessings my friend.
Sounds like you had such a fun vacation!!! Cute pictures! And yes, a little thump on the head for not tracking...and for not weighing in, salt detox or no salt detox! (I know we're all here to dispense the occasional bit of tough love...)
ReplyDeleteHave an easy transition to real life--there's always so much laundry after vacation! Glad you're back--it hasn't been the same without you--and have a good week.
Vacation is a trying time, but you need to braek the "not me in the pics" habit. We fat gals tend to do that. Get used to taking the pics and avoiding the pics. But it makes for uneven memories. The kids want pics of momma, too.
ReplyDeleteI think you should post your salty weight. We know it's vacation bloat. It's accountability. And it will be nice to compare with your debloat weight next Sunday. Go for it!
I hope everyone remembers to link up. It is a way to help focus for the week, a little tool. One small wee tool, but I think it all adds up.
Happy Father's Day, Deb and all.
Given that it was vacation, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You should be able to let loose once in a while. And really, it may not have been completely on point like home can be, but you tried with choosing healthier alternatives sometimes and stayed with the good breakfast habit, so it's not like you threw everything out of the window.
ReplyDeleteGood job on getting right back into tracking. Being away from home is so hard on weight loss. You have the dedication needed to get back on track asap.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Motivation Monday this week. Oh, and I do log my food daily. I guess I didn't post it in a good place. When you go to my blog click on Food at the top to see my tracking. It isn't complete because I just switched back to FitnessPal after using SparkPeople for a couple of weeks. Let me know if it doesn't show for you. I may have the wrong link posted.
Welcome back. Sorry you had trouble with all the vacation food begging to be eaten. It's tough to diet with a family any time and really hard on vacation. I don't think I've ever tried it.
ReplyDeleteI keep track of food when I'm out by googling calories on every bit of restaurant food and logging it on my iPhone app for loseit.
Glad to see you're back on track. Maybe the little slip last week will trick your body into thinking you're not starving and talk it into letting go of more calories this week. :)
At least you had an active vacation! It sounds like loads of fun. We're planning a week to the beach on the Gulf in November, we'll see how it goes...one thing at a time. You're doing great and can't wait to see some family shots! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it sounds like you had a busy weekend. Glad to have you back :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, glad you had a great time. Vacations are hard so all you can do is try, you want to have a good time and not monitor as much but you don't want to fall off and not get back on so it's awesome that you are getting right back into the swing of things:-)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and thanks again for including this challenge as part of your already busy schedule. The support gained is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. What wonderful pictures. A family vacation is a blessing and I am so happy you and your lovely family enjoyed it.

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a fabulous time. I loved hearing the contrast of how you got around: no shuttle, stairs... You have come a long way! I am glad you enjoyed the vacation and didn't get caught up in counting calories. We need to do that some times.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good vacation. Welcome back. Isn't it amazing how things we didn't even think about in the past can make such a difference. I was actually chasing my children around in the park yesterday. Actually running. I couldn't believe it.
ReplyDeleteI can't say much about the food tracking, except we both know better and are going to have a better week, right?
Blessings
Welcome back, and what a beautiful family you have! Glad you had such a fun and active vacation!
ReplyDeleteWe all do need a bit of tough love, but I'm not good at that all the time ;)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, even if you fell off the wagon a little I'm sure you still had your weight loss goals in the back of your mind. Being more conscious of the effort is helpful because even if you make poor dietary decisions, you probably still make better choices than if you had no goals in mind at all.
Get back in that saddle!
