Day 11 of 120

Ok, here's some more interesting information I found in a magazine.  I know that there are studies done every 10 minutes and researchers change their minds about things every other day but I still find it interesting.

This is about Calcium:

A British Journal of Nutrition study found that overweight women who took 1200 mg of calcium a day lost 13 lbs more in 15 weeks than those who got a placebo.  The researchers speculate that calcium makes you feel full, so that you don't overeat.

Then it goes on to say that they recommend 1000 mg of calcium a day, split into 2 doses as your body can't absorb more than 500 mg. at a time.  I take my One a Day Womens, in the morning and then a Calcium with Vitamin D at night.  I'm not trying to plug vitamins, I just thought it was interesting.

Incidentally, these are the only vitamin supplements that I take. I believe that a balanced diet is essential and is more important, as God didn't create the Multivitamin pill. I have only been taking vitamins regularly for the last 2 years and I have to say, despite having 3 kids, plus 10,000 daycare kids, I have been the healthiest the last 2 years than I ever have. Healthiest as far as colds and flu's.  I've barley had the sniffles this year and last year just had a very minor cold, at the most.  Whether this is due to the vitamins or not, who knows.

  3. I totally believe vitamins help. (not biased at all since I work for a supplement manufacturer) lol.. but really.. we have dr's and scientists here.. they all vouch for them :) Our overprocessed food stuff nowadays.. takes all the good stuff out.. we have to get it back! :)

  4. The opposite is true for me. I am doing all these things to get healthy, and I had the respiratory/bronchial/sinus infections at Christmas (and 3 weeks after), then the stomach flu for a week, and now a nasty UTI infection where I am peeing blood clots. (TMI, sorry.) Don't think I'm not wondering if I need to gain some weight back. Time will tell.
