Here is a post at Roni's Weigh about losing only "one pound". It's awesome! It's where I got the inspiration for this post.

Whenever we start a "day one" of dieting, we think big.
"I want to lose 40 lbs. by the end of the year!"
"I want to lose 2 - 3 lbs a week!"
We never just think,
"I want to lose one pound."
We've all been guilty of complaining how LONG it takes to lose weight!
We all also remark about how "time flies". We can't believe how fast time goes as we see our kids grow up.
So my goal is to lose one pound.
One pound at a time.
With weight loss, slow and steady is definitely the way to go, slow and steady usually means sustainable and keeping it off!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great goal. I personally had that mind set when I started my journey. I actually have not taken my dieting or exercising to any extreme but have had the good fortune to be losing weight fairly quickly. I suspect that being spoiled by all that, I will need to refer to this post once my body catches up to my new found life style.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great goal and will keep you from filling disappointed if you don't lose alot each week. I use to complain about losing only one pound but those one pounds add up fast and now my body is really starting to let go of the weight. I got your name off the Hot 100 challenge list I hope you don't mind me adding you to my favorite blog list.

Awesome post, Debbi and so true. I'm following you from the Hot 100 Challenge and I came to wish you good luck and tell you that I'm looking forward to supporting each other through the next 100 days, one pound at a time :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right!! I'm doing the hot 100 challenge with you and I'm really excited about it. I feel the energy already. One pound at a time is exactly it, and I have to remember that too. Thanks for sharing it. I'll go check out Roni's post too.
ReplyDeleteWow, good point! I like this perpective.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment on my blog! I like what you said about the importance of 1 pound. It all adds up!

Excellent post! When I stopped trying to figure out how many pounds I could lose in "X" amount of days I actually started losing weight. I'm on the slow and steady plan now and as much as I'd like to lose 20 pounds by the end of the year I'm not stressing about it. I'm learning that turtles can FLY!
ReplyDeleteI read this yesterday and I liked it. Really it's just one, one pound at a time, one day at a time, one moment at a time, sometimes it's one of those days so it's just one minute at a time.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing good Debbi. It's not easy working as hard as you do, taking care of daycare and your own family plus everything else so there are times it's just impossible to keep up. You'll get to your food journal, you'll get all the recipes down, you'll get things done but for now, with all that you're doing, it's just one moment at a time. Enjoy your day, enjoy your wee ones, just enjoy everything. It's a great day today. Take care and God Bless!!!
So true! When I recommitted to getting my scale moving in August I said, "I just want to lose 5 lbs." I had maintained for three months over summer and needed to start seeing losses again. I knew getting to 195 would be huge for me...and it was. Now I'm on to my next five. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and have a great week!
