Seriously, is it Friday already?
I can't really even use the excuse that it's been busy, time has just gone by quickly! As most of you may know, I have a recipe blog. This was my reason to start blogging. I loved finding or creating low calorie meals that were filling, healthy and well, low calorie. Some are not so healthy, I know, so don't start ragging on me! :-)
I'm not one of those cooks who can just open the cupboard and put together a fantastic meal. Oh no. I've had a lot of help. I've gotten recipes from many online sites and even some of you!!
I also love cookbooks. And to multitask. I often will sit by my computer watching TV and paging through cooking magazines and cookbooks. Making notes, tearing out pages and bookmarking recipes while watching ER reruns. Yea, that's my kind of Friday night!
My latest find is the Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook. I was first intrigued by the words Comfort-Food-Diet all in the same title. I started out dieting thinking that comfort food had no room in a diet. Boy oh boy was I wrong there.
This cookbook has it all; breakfast, lunches, dinners, snacks and desserts. Most recipes have pictures (which I LOVE). They have the calories right on the pictures. They have the nutrition facts at the bottom of the recipe.
I. Love. This. Cookbook.
I've used it several times and have about 100 pages bookmarked to try. I especially want to try new breakfast recipes. I'm a boring breakfast eater and would love to jazz it up a bit. Plus, we like to eat breakfast for dinner quite a bit.

ReplyDeleteI will never give up ;)
ReplyDeleteI am a sts challenger.. I hope there is something vegetarian in the book.. although.. not many comfort foods are.. but it is still easy to make them that way I've found.. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope for low carb recipes. This way of eating is working for me and I can use all the help I can get getting variety into my diet. I also hope the ingredients are things people have on hand - not some exotic spices, etc., that will sit around after being used a time or two.
ReplyDeleteHealth low cal meals, (So I can feed the family what I eat). Hopefully easy to make also. Gracie

ReplyDeleteI'm not a quitter either!

Comfort foods for me are meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and cheesey casseroles. If they have any recipes for stuff like that, I'm set!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm... sounds delicious. I would love it if it had low carb recipes. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope there are some healthy breakfast recipes in there. Breakfast foods are my favorite but the calories always add up so fast!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!!!
Slimmer Summer challeneger. Not quittin!!!
ReplyDeleteLow Carb and Low Calorie. Thats what Im hoping ot find!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful book and I know you can't go wrong with Taste of Home recipes, knowing they are made healthy is a big plus. I hope there is a good mac and cheese recipe in there.
ReplyDeleteI'd hope to see some casserole recipes. I do enjoy them, but rarely make them as it's so hard to make a healthy, but satisfying comfort food type casserole. Taste of Home books always have great recipes in them.
ReplyDeleteI also would like to know how many or if a good number of recipes are lower-carb or Primal/Paleo friendly (ie, no wheat/gluten/legumes/sugar/noodles/bread).
ReplyDeleteAnd I ain't quitting. I'm so close now!
I hope a good nacho recipe is in this cookbook. That is my total downfall. And, perhaps, some delicious desserts!
